PREAMBLE
In today’s rapidly evolving global landscape, media and communication are not only tools of influence — they are strategic assets that shape public perception, international cooperation, and policy response. Recognizing this potential, the Film Diplomacy (FD) was established with its flag initiative Films Diplomacy Conference (FDC) as a pioneering global initiative to leverage film, dialogue, and cross-sector collaboration to accelerate progress on critical global priorities.
Founded in 2024 by Raheel Ahmad, FD operates at the intersection of creative industries, public diplomacy, and sustainable development. It convenes thought leaders, emerging changemakers, institutions, and impact-driven creators to transform cinema into a vehicle for intercultural engagement, policy awareness, and systemic change.
The FDC is positioned not just as an event — but as a strategic platform that translates complex global challenges into actionable creative outputs. Through a focused agenda and measurable outcomes, FDC serves as a catalyst for multi-stakeholder engagement and future-oriented policy innovation aligned with the Culture, Peace, social issues, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and beyond.
STRATEGIC PILLARS OF FDC AGENDA 2030
01
Cinematic Diplomacy for Sustainable Futures
FDC aims to reframe films as strategic diplomatic tools. By embedding the themes of peace, inclusion, justice, climate action, & culture within cinematic content, we aim to:
-
Increase awareness on global challenges among youth through visual storytelling.
-
Equip over 1000+ young filmmakers by 2030 with tools to craft policy-aligned creative outputs.
-
Integrate filmmaking into formal and informal diplomacy training.
-
Influence 50,000+ youth and reach over 5M+ Digital Audience.
02
Capacity Building & Youth Leadership
FDC will scale capacity-building programs to:
-
Launch the FDC Impact Academy, a hybrid learning platform connecting UN agencies, universities, private sectors, film productions and civil society organizations with creative youth.
-
Establish regional youth cohorts and alumni networks to drive local impact projects, co-create media campaigns, and represent their regions in global summits.
03
Policy Innovation Through Visual Impact
FDC facilitates direct input from young creatives and policy actors:
-
In each Film Diplomacy Conference, resolutions and insights generated by youth participants will be documented and published in the FDC Youth Resolution Series, serving as advisory recommendations shared with global institutions and stakeholders.
-
Generate evidence-based media for use in global forums and youth-led diplomatic channels.
Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships
FDC advances global cooperation by aligning storytelling with sustainable development efforts:
-
Partner with UN agencies, regional bodies, ministries, and civil society to align film diplomacy with international frameworks and national development strategies.
-
Engage 500+ companies and 50+ industries to co-create and scale visual impact initiatives supporting climate, culture, tech, and youth.
-
Collaborate with youth groups, filmmakers, universities, and cultural councils to grow a global network of creative change agents.
04
Innovation for Good: Film + Tech
FDC harnesses technology to amplify creative diplomacy and measurable impact:
-
Develop interactive storytelling tools that enable audiences to engage with global issues through film-driven experiences.
-
Partner with tech innovators to create scalable platforms for virtual screenings, immersive workshops, and remote collaboration.
-
Host innovation labs and hackathons that bring together filmmakers, coders, and activists to prototype solutions addressing social and environmental challenges.
05
Global Story Index (GSI)
-
By 2026, FDC will introduce the Global Story Index, a comprehensive benchmarking system designed to evaluate and promote films that align with core values of human rights, sustainability, and peace.
-
Collaborate with film commissions, NGOs, and academic institutions to produce detailed country-level story reports highlighting regional storytelling trends and impact.
-
Provide an interactive platform for stakeholders to access data-driven insights, encouraging the creation and support of socially impactful films worldwide.
