On 12 March, a Films Diplomacy delegation, led by President Mr. Raheel Ahmad and Chief Political Advisor Mr. Murat Emir Kaya, paid an official visit to Ms. Aysur Belekova, Deputy Consul General of the Russian Federation, following her gracious invitation.
The meeting served as an important opportunity to strengthen bilateral cultural dialogue and explore new avenues for international collaboration through the power of cinema.
The discussions focused on the growing importance of public and cultural diplomacy in fostering mutual understanding between nations. Particular emphasis was placed on encouraging the active participation of Russian youth delegates, filmmakers, actors, industry professionals, and public universities in the upcoming Films Diplomacy Conference 2026 (FDC'26), to be held in Istanbul. Both sides exchanged perspectives on how film can serve as a bridge between cultures, inspire dialogue, and empower the next generation of global leaders.
The meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to promoting international cooperation through storytelling, cultural exchange, and people-to-people diplomacy. Films Diplomacy sincerely appreciates the Consulate General of the Russian Federation for its warm hospitality, valuable insights, and continued support for initiatives that strengthen dialogue, collaboration, and peace through the universal language of film.
